Updated: Jason Segel tweeted, "Chelsea Gill (who wrote the great song) and her twin sister and I at the Comedy awards. I'm not sure which is which" along with a picture.
The clever girl who asked "Muppets" funnyman Jason Segel out on a date by serenading him with an original song on YouTube is getting her wish.
Sort of.
Segel’s in town to accept an award from the Chicago Film Critics Association and the girl in question -- Chelsea Gill-- will be on his arm for the ceremony. "She's a nice girl. So she's coming tonight. I'm very excited," Segel told reporters at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago before The CFCA Awards. But, they're going just as friends. "No, it's not a date," the actor clarified.
Segal posted the video on Twitter saying it was "My favorite thing, maybe ever. I am in awe. Response on the way."
The "How I Met Your Mother" actor sees a lot of himself in Gill's homemade plea. "Honestly, she reminded me of who I was when I was in my like early 20s. I was doing weird puppet videos and stuff, but I was writing crazy songs and all that and it was so sweet."
Not everyone was convinced. "What’s so funny is that were in such a weird litigious society, my agents and managers and lawyers were like ‘we have to do a background check.’ She’s not John Lithgow from ‘Richochet’ She’s a nice girl.”
