Every time I see a mock living room set up in a store I often wonder how the designers came up with the idea to put certain pieces together that normal non-designers would never think to try. I feel like I know the basics of interior decorating and I really do love doing it, but when I see those fake rooms, it just makes me feel like a rookie.
It is for this reason that I am so happy to share this Favorite Find: horchow.com is an online furniture catalog that's owned by Neiman Marcus. Yes, you can buy great furniture from them but it's what I learn from their site that's the most valuable to me.
They literally break down what they did to create their mock room and then they even take
it a step further to explain to the reader why it works. Not just living rooms, either, dining rooms, bedrooms, entryways and offices are included too. It's like taking a class!
